Chainrings

Chainrings or front gears are a very important part of a bicycle. Chainrings are the ring parts of the crankset that carry the chain and gears/speeds. They differ depending on what kind of bike they are designed for, so there are road bike chainrings, triathlon, mountain bike (MTB) chainrings, trekking, and so on.  Check out our offers and find your new chainrings here.

Introducing different types of bicycle cranksets

In a nutshell: a bike crankset consists of chainrings, a bottom bracket and crank arms. You can find them in more than a couple of main formats: single, double and triple.

However, the choice of the crankset you opt for is mainly determined by the type of bike you are riding and the type of riding you prefer. The types of bikes are BMX, MTB or road bikes, but - do bear in mind these are not interchangeable.

Mountain bike crankset vs Road bike crankset

MTB and road bikes favor light weights above everything else, but when choosing an MTB crankset, you must be aware of a few fundamental factors: type, model and mountain bike crankset size/ length.

For instance, the crankset built for biking disciplines such as cross country will need to be both lightweight and well set up in terms of gear, while the cranksets focused on a gravity market need to be stronger and more narrow in terms of gear.

On the other hand, the vast majority of road cranksets come with two-ring double cranksets, meaning there is not that much to focus on in terms of type. They can be either more traditional or more compact. Traditional ones are aimed at advanced riders with racing in mind, while compact ones are more focused on leisure riders.

In our offer you will find cranksets based on the bike types - both MTB and road, as well as BMX, which represent very strong and durable units that can handle all kinds of jumps and stunts.
