Maxxis Aggressor Wide Trail Double Down
Description
Booking it into corners at high speed has a few pay offs — between shaving off seconds, boosted control, and that weightless feeling you get when you're sideways in the middle of a banked berm — however it also carries its inherent risks — most often, sliding out on a loose patch from a not-enough-traction situation, dropping all of the speed you'd hoped to save, and instead ending up somewhere in the bushes just off trail.

It doesn't have to be that way, though, with the 29in Maxxis Aggressor Wide Trail Double Down/TR Tire. This iteration brings you the same tread pattern you've grown to know and love on the Aggressor, but with lugs that position themselves further out on the rim, so you can enjoy the wide-trail control of a lofty 2.5-inch tire gripping the trail.
Maxxis' Double Down dual-ply casing construction provides downhill-inspired protection that EXO just doesn't manage to tackle. It comes with a slight weight penalty, but boasts a full 120 TPI, compared to the EXO's 60. Weighing in just over 1000-grams, it adds a bit of weight over EXO, however what it carries in weight it more than makes up for in increased durability, with a casing that holds on through rough miles and weather. The nobby tread design of the Aggressor features hard edges and reinforced side knobs to keep you locked in through loose and squirly sections of trail, holding tight to help keep you from washing out on tight switchbacks.
